since this community's been pretty much dead for weeks now, i thought i'd revive it and make it a zombie community! BWAHAHAHA!

um, yes. my point? well, when menomena was on their spring 2007 tour, i got a chance to interview them for my radio show goldsoundz on WREK, georgia tech student radio. the interview aired in mid-april, but with finals and whatnot, i forgot to post it on here for all you lovely folks to listen to. however, thanks to the wonders of teh internets, i am able to offer it for download via sendspace. yaaaaaaay!

so, download it HERE.
and enjoy lovely photographs of the show HERE.

Under an hour.... [23 Nov 2005|08:05pm]

I'm curious what everyone thinks of the new Menomena album. I personally like the concept. It's kind of like a jam session. Though I wish they had included shirt on there.

Hello there,
this is marykate, formerly of __stability wondering if any of you have the old version of "e. is stable". it used to be on the menomena website and it was called "stability" and i just tried to download it with no success. so if any of you wonderful menomena fans have it and are willing/able to send it to me, it'd be much appreciated!

Because videos are fun! [09 Aug 2005|08:14pm]

Just in case anyone in this community isn't on the Menomena mailing list...

They've finished two videos. That's right, two entire Menomena songs set to semi-nonsensical imagery. Who woulda thunk it.

You can view these lovely little (non-downloadable? I will eat your babies, Quicktime.) masterpieces at www.coughcoughing.com and www.menomena.com/triggaVID.html

That is all.

Wild. Randomly, I clicked on menomena in my interests list (I've had it listed since around '01) and damn. I had no idea they even had a community now! I guess I got lost on what was happening with the band.

I'm glad to see they're touring and making quite a few fans; I actually had college classes with Danny and he gave me a copy of one of the early albums (I think it was a demo... it's in a handmade black paper case) and thought it was some fantastic work!

Yeah I have no idea why I felt compelled to share this, but I think it's great there's actually now a community for Menomena.

The last day to vote for the PDX Pop Now! musicfest lineup is tomorrow!!

This all ages festival happens August 5-7 at the Loveland in Portland, for the glorious price of Free. Menomena is on the suggested list of local bands to vote for, along with other great locals such as Wet Confetti, talkdemonic, Viva Voce, etc. There's also a second category with big-name Portland bands like the Shins, Modest Mouse, the Decemberists, and more. It's hard to pick from so many amazing bands but boy am I excited for this dang festival.

Even if you don't live in Portland, go onward and spread the Menomena love. They're also featured on the amazing PDX Pop Now! compilation cd.

menomena in two days!!! ahhh! i'm gonna see them at SLObrew in san luis obispo. apparently they are not headlining though; it's either The National or this EXTREMELY shitty local band called the Red Lights. i've had to endure those fucks at like, three shows, and i might be driven to throw tomatoes or hockey pucks at those terrible people.

if you know of or like the red lights, SORRY on so many levels.

Happiness is shouting bingo? [05 Jun 2005|07:39pm]

Hey all,
I am sitting here, just listening to my mp3s, and I find this version of "E is Stable" that is different from the fun blame monster version. Anyway, I think I d/l it a couple years back from thier site. The tag says "Happiness is shouting Bingo" is the name of the album it's from. Does anyone know how to get a hold of this? Was it a demo tape? What else was on it?

[ mood | unfocused. ]

This place isn't super lively, but I may as well introduce myself as (I think) the only New Zealand Menomena fan here. I first got into them late last year. I was rifling through the second-hand basement at one of Auckland's two good record stores, when my eye was caught by the greatest packaging I'd ever seen a CD come in. Obviously, it was "I Am The Fun Blame Monster" and for 6 bucks NZ (a full price cd's usually over thirty in our exotic/hyperinflated currency) I couldn't pass it up. Since I was throughly enthralled with the content, too, I found out all about them online (including this place) and drunkenly espoused their greatness to similarly indie-minded friends. And Dream Theater fans. I'm an undiscerning drunk like that.

Anyway, I'm resigned to the fact they're unlikely to play over here, but if I ever find myself in that part of the world, I'll make it a must to go catch their live show. In the meantime, I sometimes play them on my radio show (1am to 4am Mondays, which is probably the day everywhere else) on Auckland's 95bFm. We're here, and you can get a live stream, too!

Yes, it's a blatant plug.

It seems like only one person really posts here, so hi other poster!

We can bring this thing back to life, mmhm.

And, for the record, I am sad that I cannot go to the Sasquatch Festival. I found out about it a while ago and was quite excited until I realized that, oh. I live on the other side of the country. =(

So whomever is going, have a good time for the East coast people!

Hey, I'm Will, and I discovered Menomena about a week ago when I decided that I wanted to buy some random album from my local branch of Kimmy's Video(NYC chain). I was looking at the staff pics, and I AM THE FUN BLAME MONSTER was on it. I liked the review, which compared them to Radio-Head, so I decided to buy it. I got way into it. I played it during my art class, and the kids there, even kids who aren't particularly into that genre. One of my friends said he thought that he would buy the album, and I was like, "rock on!"

Anyway, I like the way they use so many different instruments in all of their songs. Also, the album case is not to be missed, I find new things in the flip book every time I flip it.

However, I was a bit disappointed with their official website, filled with obnoxious AIM acronyms and hard-to-follow beat language. I felt like they were trying a little too hard to be artsy, and it ended up just kind of confusing, difficult to navigate, and therefore pretty damn annoying...can anyone explain this to me? Don't mean to put the band down, because I totally dig their music, and I love the album art.
